This was the fourth installment of the LITHUBA LAKHO (This is your Opportunity): Top Eastern Cape craft exhibition and competition.
The exhibition and competition supports the development of top export quality craft from a diverse range of disciplines. Crafters and designers working in the Eastern Cape Province were invited to submit outstanding creations for the exhibition. 71 crafters and designers were selected.
The competition and exhibition is designed to promote excellence in our local craft market and has been initiated by the Eastern Province Development Corporation and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum.
An exhibition opening was held on the 29 March 2019 at 18H00.
Lithuba Lakho Winners:
Prizes were given for the most outstanding work. There were four winners in the categories of homeware, contemporary accessories, traditional accessories and apparel. Each category winner received a prize of materials or machinery of their choice to the value of R 15 000.00. The top ten crafters were profiled in a brochure publication, which included professional photographic images of their work.
