GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL CRAFTERS IN NELSON MANDELA BAY
The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum invites all professional crafters living and working in Nelson Mandela Bay to submit craft products. We are challenging local crafters to present their top products for selection to be purchased by the Art Museum for their Museum’s shop.
Entries will be accepted in all craft categories including locally produced attire, as well as homeware accessories (both traditional and contemporary), leatherwork, woodwork, beadwork, ceramics, recycled material, textiles, and any pioneering new mediums.
We are looking for gifts for tourists, such as, jewellery, doeks, key-rings, ornaments, bags, aprons etc.
Crafters must present a display of their top craft products at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum at 1 Park Drive Central on 4th of May 2023 for selection by craft and art experts. The selectors’ decision is final.
Entrants to the craft selection must arrive at the Art Museum at 9:00. You will be given half an hour to setup up for the selection. Tables will be made available for display. The selection will take place between 10:00 – 12:00 on 4th of May 2023.
Crafters will be judged on the following criteria:
- Quality of workmanship
- Craft that represents the spirit of Nelson Mandela Bay
- Craft celebrating our heritage and culture
- Craft must be innovative
Please note:
- Sets of products, Fashion, clothing products and shoes will not be accepted.
- Large products will also not be accepted due to limited space.
- Individual crafters and collectives are welcome to enter.
- The value of the Products entered must be between R20 to R 500 per product.
- If craft is selected for purchase then crafters are to provide us with a proper invoice for payments to be processed.
- A maximum of up to R2000 will be spent per crafter if selected.
- Selected craft products will be purchased on the same day.
- Entry forms will be available on the day of selection.
