The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality through the Red Location Art Gallery and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum are calling for artworks to be submitted for the Art Collection of the City.
The City is looking for works by artists who work and live in the Eastern Cape and have made a significant contribution to the art of the region. The call-out is open to all artists 18 years or older as of 1 January 2022.
Each artist can submit a maximum of THREE artworks for selection.
These may take the form of sets or assemblages. Entries must be the ORIGINAL WORK of the artist.
SUBMISSION: For consideration each artist must email digital submissions to nmm.artmuseum1956@gmail.com before 29 April 2022.
Each artist to forward a completed entry form listing the 3 artworks on it and their CV and a motivation letter (a maximum of 500 words) for the works to be considered for the collection.
SELECTION: The selection will be conducted by the Purchase of Works of Art Selection Committee as per the NMBM Museum Policy.
FINAL SELECTION FOR THE COLLECTION: Artists selected through the digital submission process will be invited to exhibit their work at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum. A final selection will take place once the works are installed for works that will be considered for purchase for the collection.
