Localised flooding causes concern for motorists and settlements in lower-lying areas

Published: July 22, 2021

Localised flooding, due to persistent rain, is not only causing concern for motorists - residents from some lower-lying areas such as the Walmer Township area, parts of Helenvale and Kuyga are receiving assistance from Disaster Management staff due to waterlogged homes.

Shane Brown, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Disaster Management Director, says the weather is expected to clear by tomorrow morning.

"At this stage, we are requesting motorists to be very careful as most of our roads are currently waterlogged which could lead to breakdowns and accidents.

"Our Disaster Management staff are currently deployed in various areas of the Metro to provide relief where needed,” Brown said.
